blacks better than green but i cant see myself trying to use a pencil on all of this footage, id rather put up with it. i guess if it was a fixed amount of footage, say 20 or 30 feet then its do-able, this is too sustained on reel one.
Looking for Abba the movie Scope trailer

Agreed Tom.
To be worth the effort, we are surely only talking of a few feet or seconds worth of footage that is damaged, not hundreds of feet.
Then you'd be into restoration territory! 😂😂
It's film and we still love it despite its annoying foibles at times. 😊😊
"C'Mon Baggy, Get With The Beat"
I've heard also of warm water treatment softening the emulsion coating sufficiently to allow the scratch to be reduced drastically but I've seen no actual evidence of this being possible.
I'm sure if it was a reliable method, no one would own a scratched film by now.

I've read that polyester scratches more easily than acetate. That's a beautifully sharp print Tom, and even in your screen shots, you can almost see the pores in Morgan Freeman's skin.
I am not sure it is Polyester scratching more easily Robert, but certainly LPP ones can scratch easily, whether they are printed on a base of Polyester or Acetate.

??????
Are what still Acetate Robert?
"C'Mon Baggy, Get With The Beat"
You said LPP prints scratch more easily, are LPP prints on Acetate or Poly or both.
They can be printed on either base material Robert and nowadays, often are, depending on what's available at the time plus German striping capabilities / customer demands etc etc.
In the Derann era, all later prints were printed on Polyester stock be it LPP or Agfa.
They were able to stripe both Main and Balance Stripes to Polyester, most of the time! 😂😂

Tom,
You'd have a hard time finding a scope print of this as it was only a 1:85/1 release, whereas Dances with Wolves was most certainly a 2:40/1 release.
Thanks Barry, that explains why there's no panning and scanning at all in this film.
Is the super 8 release scope? for some reason i thought it was.
Die Hard / Silence of the Lambs. 8 or 16 anyone?

Tom,
The only thing I think was released from this film was a trailer, you've got to remember this was a Warner Bros. film, and Uncle Derek lost his deal with them.
That kind of makes me feel better having this print, for some reason i thought it was released as a scope feature on super 8 but only a limited amount of prints, Glad i'm wrong
