Hello everyone

I'm Tyler, mid twenties and living in East London. I have recently got into 16mm cinema after inheriting my grandfather's Singer Insta-Load projector.

It came with a few very dry documentaries as it was used in a school but despite how tedious they were in content I still really enjoyed using and seeing film in my own home. I think I might be hooked. I've bought a couple of things to watch on it but my finances mean I need to make fairly shrewd choices right now. I was hoping to get to meet other collectors, borrow/buy some films and also learn more about maintaining my machine and basically anything I need to know from the basics up! If there are other London-based collectors (I guess there must be if Umit's shop in Hackney is able to survive) I'd be keen to meet up and have a chat about the hobby; as a total beginner any advice is welcome.

Sort of films I like/am particularly interested in: Early Hollywood, Film-Noir, B-movies, Cult Horror, Buster Keaton, Surrealism, cartoon shorts (particularly Flesicher Bros and that style), Marx bros, Sidney Lumet, New Wave cinema.

Very inexhaustive list as I love film and television and so there are few genres or styles that don't have something appealing.

My name is Mikael Ögren, and i live in Sweden, i have been interested in 16 mm films and projectors since a did my military service, where 1 of my duties were to show educational films to the service men, for some reason, i never found a projector until recently, and it was an EIKI RST-2 that originated from the Swedish airforce, i am currenly in the process of restoring it, and i think that im more or less done, and it is super cool, i also noticed how hard it is to find decent films to purchase, that actually supprised me, because, during my military service, the amount of film seemed limitless ...
Im very happy that i found this forum, where i can meet people with the same or similar inrests.

welcome Mikael, you are indeed among many like minded collectors of 16mm films and equipment here. I hope you enjoy being here and also, I hope you find some of the films you are seeking here from people like David Guest here, who solely deal in selling film and equipment entirely on your preferred 16mm gauge.

Hi folks! Thought I'd make my first post in the forum. As a quick introduction, I consider myself to be somewhat of an animation buff, particularly on the early stuff, and have been long fascinated with film projection. Having acquired a fairly good condition Eumig S932 earlier this year, I thought I'd venture into collecting Super 8. No-one could have warned me this would prove to be slightly addictive as over the past few months I've managed to acquire what I feel to be an eclectic mix of shorts (see the attached photos for most of my collection so far).
